There are books out there on how to stand out and students read them and at the same time when they come to the interview they all give the same information and it is all monotone. Dr. Wong’s seminar definitely showed me how to stand out during residency interviews. He showed and told us how to answer certain interview questions that are highly to be asked. I will definitely be using his tips for when I am being interviewed for residency. As an IMG, I must say that I was not only well-informed with the information provided in this seminar but also enlightened. Considering that the process of matching is complicated due to the competition of applicants, one must have the crucial information as a means to be ahead of the curve. Dr. Wong’s seminar enabled me to become well versed in understanding the historical backgrounds with both family and internal medicine. I was fortunate to get a family practice clinical rotation with Dr. Wong, at that time I also found out that he offers interview prep seminars and helps to write personal statements. First of all, whether you attend his seminars or not I have to say the rotation itself is a different experience compared to all the other rotations that I did. The bonus part of this rotation is that you get to interact with an experienced program director. In a 6 weeks rotation, he made me aware of the healthcare system and how to face reality as a medical practitioner which no other preceptors thought to enlighten their students with. When I found out that he offers seminars to prep yourself for interviews I realized it is a golden opportunity to be prepared by an experienced program director who interviewed hundreds of applicants for years. I was able to understand the insights of a program director and how to impress them without memorizing the same type of questions and answers that others get prepped with. I have to say it was worth it and I would recommend to anyone who wants to stand out as a unique candidate.

Dr. Wong did not simply conduct a Q&A session. His approach was unique. He believes in originality. He was helping me mold my thinking in such a way that I could approach and answer many of the commonly asked questions during interviews and to steer the interviewer towards discussing some of the most important issues today's primary care is facing and to stand out among other applicants. Overall it was a great experience!
